Everyone has a need for personal safety. The ability to perceive and pre-empt dangerous or potentially dangerous situations is a necessary set of skills for everyone. The number and kind of potential threats are numerous; Assault, Robbery, Kidnapping, Terrorism, Natural Disaster, Accidents, and System Failure are some of these threats. Prevention is the key. Knowledge and Awareness are the keys to personal safety and a sense of well being.

The only people that can help themselves or help others are those who have knowledge and have made some preparations. There are easy to carry everyday tools that can be lifesavers when needed. An example of a tragedy where the only people who could have helped themselves survive but didn’t have the knowledge, mindset, and training was Virginia Tech. Those students were failed by the system that they were raised in and it is our responsibility to see that others are given the knowledge, skills, and mindset to determine their own survival. Another example is NYC. Many of those who listened to “authority” in 9/11 did not survive. A large number of those deaths where preventable even after the first building had been struck. Those who did not think for themselves, abdicating their own judgment and survival, paid the ultimate price.

The skills gained in this class will help you to understand and deal with situations where you or your loved ones may be in danger. This class is not about “Martial Arts”, it is about safety, survival, prevention, knowledge and developing the personal awareness to live a happy and safe life. These skills include staying mentally calm under duress using breathing techniques to do so. Proper breath control is an enormous asset for a healthy life and were learned and practiced by ancient warriors. We can benefit from this knowledge and it adds to the quality of our lives..

Testimonial: Frederick Remington
I’m writing to thank you for the exceptional two day self defense course that you conducted. It has been two weeks since I took your course and I find myself constantly reviewing the techniques you taught us. In education, a good lesson is one that compels the student to reflect on what was taught over an increasing time span.

Your professionalism and skill as a teacher are a tribute to martial arts and self defense. At 68 years of age, I’ll have to admit that your course inculcated a level of self confidence that haven’t felt since my days as a U.S. Marine.
